Abera Ogato
Gamo people, Ethiopia
Our area is mountainous. We are highland communities and these days the seasonal consistency is not like in the past, it rains when it is expected to be sunny and it is sunny when it is expected to rain because of that we can’t grow our crops.
Our crops are highly affected by disease, it was very common in the low lands but now the disease is moving up because of climate change.

Live stock diseases are more common these days but this was not the case in the past.
Some years it is very rainy, and because of the excessive rain crops fail. This year the sunny season was very long, it has started raining when the time to sow crops has passed.
There is no special care for our tribe, as a poor nation it is a problem for tribes.
Our traditional way of life is very sustainable and we should get support to maintain our way of life. We are very poor so we need support.
