The Government adopted the Strategy for the Improvement of the Position of Romany Population in Montenegro. The Strategy introduces a number of concrete measures and activities of the legal, political, utility and urban planning, health, cultural, information and educational nature, aimed at helping integrate the Romany population into all areas of social life. In this regard, the Government decided to form a separate organizational unit within the Ministry for the Protection of Human and Minority Rights for the implementation of the Strategy.

Project on Ethnic Relations (PER) organized the fourth and final roundtable discussion in its two-year initiative on “Institutional Arrangements for Implementation and Monitoring of the Montenegrin Roma (RAE) Governmental Strategy.” The meeting was attended by various government officials, Romani leaders and activists, and international experts, and opened by the British Ambassador, John Dyson, Montenegro’s Minister for Human and Minority Rights Protection, Fuad Nimani, President of the Romani Circle Coalition Nedzmedin Salja, and PER President, Livia Plaks.
