This year MRG’s annual publication, State of the World’s Minorities and Indigenous Peoples, will focus on land rights violations and the impact of the exploitation of natural resources on minorities and indigenous peoples.

We are looking for stories, testimonies and case studies from you, or members of the communities you represent if you have been displaced or are facing eviction from your land; or have suffered negative consequences due to natural resource development projects in your area, such as mining, oil and gas projects, dams, logging or tourism.

We are looking for personal accounts that tell us: the problems you and your community face; what are your community doing about it; and what needs to be done to address this issue.

This testimony can be:

  • an audio or video interview (no longer than three to five minutes);
  • a short transcript of an interview (about 500 words);
  • a short blog or article (about 500 words);
  • or a photo story.

These stories will be featured on the Minority Voices newsroom, as well as on MRG’s website. These two websites attract thousands of visitors from round the world, including journalists, so it’s a great way to make your story heard.

Examples of what we need (these are just suggestions):

  • a short video testimony from someone who has been evicted from their land to make way for a dam project, filmed by the project site;
  • an audio file of a women talking about the health impacts of a dangerous gas exploration project on her family;
  • a short written account from someone who has been targeted for speaking out about human rights violations committed by a company in his/her region;
  • a photo story about the loss of forest habitat for an indigenous community due to logging.

Try not to conduct lengthy interviews in offices with poor light or send us weighty reports, we are interested in your stories from the ground, personal accounts from the heart of your community.

We also may feature your story in the State of the World's Minorities and Ingigenous Peoples publications, and in MRG press releases.

Please send any submissions to jasmin.qureshi@mrgmail.org or upload it to the Minority Voices newsroom.
