Minority Rights in Yugoslavia

This new MRG Report demonstrates that numerous minorities are currently at risk and several regions could see ethnic tensions rising to produce yet more conflicts. In addition to the position of ethnic Albanians, it focuses on the most vulnerable minorities including the Bosniaks (Muslims), Roma and Vlachs. The author discusses the potential for conflict in several regions, most notably in Sandzak and Vojvodina, in addition to the potential for Montenegro seceding from Yugoslavia. The Report concludes with recommendations to promote inter-ethnic understanding, peaceful coexistence and the rule of law.
